Principal’s Message

Students at Meadow Fair have contributed artworks and messages of peace and solidarity to a collaborative poster. This artwork is displayed on Campus.

Dear Parents and students,

I am deeply saddened by the horrific mass shooting incident in Christchurch, NZ, which claimed lives of many innocent civilians. I express my sincerest condolences and pray for all the victims, their families and the NZ Muslim community. As I condemn such acts, I strongly reiterate the need to stand united to promote peace and harmony. I express my sincere solidarity with the people of New Zealand as they try to overcome this difficult time.

We are approaching the end of term one. I hope you are happy with what we provide you in terms of education. New students got a taste of school culture. I am sure that they fit themselves in and are looking forward to a bright future. School will finish on Friday the 5th of April and open again on Tuesday the 23th of April. Interim reports will be posted to your address. You can also gain quick access to your child’s results on SEQTA.

We are very lucky to have our school leaders, and students from year 7 to 12, to participate in the fundraising programs in this term. All the money collected by students will be donated to victims in New Zealand. Students made around $1400 Thank you to SRC coordinator Ms Nur Elif Ankara and her SRC representatives for organising a wonderful program and decorating the school for events like Harmony Day and International Women’s Day.

Our mentoring program for students has started. There are four mentors who come one full day to help our students who are in need of assistance academically. They are helping students in variety of areas such as English, Maths, Science and Humanities. Through this program they are also providing a role model for our students. Thank you very much Ms Mary Ellen and her team for organising such a valuable program for our kids.

We have many extracurricular activities and programs. Extra VCE classes have started for our year 11 and 12 students. Main subjects like English, Maths, Chemistry and Biology teachers have organised an extra class every week. Other subjects have organised it for every two weeks due to clashing in the timetable. These extra classes provide our students with an environment for further excelling and improving on the specific content they are struggling in. On the other hand, our pastoral care teachers have started their programs, where students are provided with extra classes and welfare activities. Thank you very much Mr Demir and Kara and all the teachers for their efforts.

Our ‘learning by doing’ teaching philosophy is in place. There are currently three electives for this purpose which are Robotics, CREST and Farming. Special thanks to Jamie Astill for bringing CREST to our school.

There are incredible changes in the farm. Students built their garden beds and filled them with soil. They planted a variety of plants to grow. I noticed students are taking care of chickens and collecting eggs. Students are selling these eggs and the money will be used for charity. It was really great to see how knowledge applies to real life situations. Thank you Mr Yasin Erdogan for educating our kids in high level.
